The NY Giants Cause Pandemonium at HC

Any student or parent visiting Holy Child can simply see that our school is the place to be. At every corner, there is always a group of girls smiling, laughing, and having a good time. At every sports game or assembly, our friends and faculty are always there to show their appreciation.

Especially when it comes to the New York Giants.

As our school counted down the days to Super Bowl XLVI, all students were presented with not one – but two – dress down days to express our dedication to the New York Giants. Walking though the hallways while imitating Victor Cruz’s salsa dance was not only accepted by the Holy Child community, but also encouraged. I am positive that we, both students and faculty, all had the same reaction when we walked into the cafeteria on the Friday before Super Bowl Sunday: astonishment. Could it be, that the television in the cafeteria is actually turned on? After pinching myself to make sure I was not dreaming, I realized that the television was turned on to hype students up. The biggest surprise of all arrived in our gym just last Thursday: the Vince Lombardi trophy. After touching, kissing, and taking pictures with the trophy, all girls – except for the shunned Patriots fans – huddled around John Mara. Mr. Mara’s speech could not have been more touching and heartfelt. As Mr. Mara, remarked, it’s been four years since he carried a trophy to the front of the gym.

Will the Holy Child community need to wait another four years? Hopefully the Giants will win the Super Bowl again and again. Just a couple more months until the Giants – and the school’s – enthusiasm returns!
